WIJNDOMEIN ZWAENEBERG X HOEVE DE BIES

A remarkable collaboration born in 2021 when Wijndomein Zwaeneberg, nestled in Sint-Pieters-Voeren, gifted Hoeve de Bies an exceptional 100-liter Hungarian oak barrel. This vessel carried a distinguished provenance, having previously matured the acclaimed Cabernet Cortis and Monarch varieties under the expert guidance of winemaker Guido Verheyt. The grapes flourished on a silex-rich terroir with white chalk as its foundation—a geological composition that imparts distinctive minerality and depth. This convergence of heritage, soil character, and meticulous craftsmanship creates a spirit of remarkable refinement and complexity.

Proces

In 2021, Wijndomein Zwaeneberg in Sint-Pieters-Voeren gifted a remarkable cask to Hoeve de Bies: a 100-liter Hungarian oak barrel previously used to mature Cabernet Cortis and Monarch. Under the expertise of winemaker Guido Verreyt, this barrel was entrusted with a second life as the maturation vessel for our Limburg whiskey.

The robust structure of Hungarian oak, combined with the intensity of these noble grape varieties, enriched the whiskey with deep fruit notes, warm spice accents and a hint of mocha. The result is a spirit with a bold personality, clearly shaped by Zwaeneberg’s craft and the unique Voeren terroir.

Each bottle is carefully hand-bottled and individually numbered, preserving the singular story of this barrel from Sint-Pieters-Voeren.
Taste

Aromas of dark red fruit, spice and subtle mocha. The barrel’s previous use for Cabernet Cortis and Monarch yields a deep and complex fragrance with elegant oak tones.

Full-bodied and powerful, with rich flavors of dark berries, light chocolate and warming spice. The structure is assertive yet balanced, defined by its maturation in Hungarian oak.
